Prothrombin Time (PT) is a laboratory test used to evaluate the extrinsic and common coagulation pathways. It is usually reported in seconds and standardized using the International Normalized Ratio (INR). PT is widely used to monitor patients on anticoagulant therapy (such as warfarin), and to help diagnose bleeding disorders, liver disease, or vitamin K deficiency. A prolonged PT indicates delayed clotting and a higher risk of bleeding.
Prothrombin Time (PT) is a blood test that measures how long it takes blood to clot.
