FT3 is the biologically active form of the thyroid hormone. It is produced partly by the thyroid gland and also by the conversion of another hormone, Thyroxine (T4), into FT3 in body tissues. FT3 regulates metabolic rate, cell growth, nervous system activity, and body temperature. Measuring FT3 in blood helps assess thyroid gland function and diagnose disorders like hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism.
FT3 stands for Free Triiodothyronine, one of the thyroid hormones that controls the body’s metabolism and energy production.
