Test Details

The LH test is a blood test that measures luteinizing hormone, which regulates ovulation in women, stimulates testosterone production in men, and triggers puberty in adolescents. Abnormal levels can cause infertility, menstrual irregularities, reduced fertility, or delayed/early puberty. Causes may include pituitary gland disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome, gonadal failure, or intense physical stress such as excessive athletic training.

To detect fertility problems, menstrual disorders, or delayed/early puberty. Usually on specific days of the menstrual cycle (day 2–5) to evaluate ovulation. Both are hormones from the pituitary gland that work together to regulate ovulation and hormone production, but each has a distinct role.
